Established in 2018 in collaboration with Con Dao National Park, this dedicated space has provided a safe haven for more than 29,000 hatchlings, significantly increasing their chances of survival in the wild, with an impressive average hatchling success rate of 82%.
Every year, from March to October, mother turtles return to the untouched 2-kilometer beach of Six Senses Con Dao to lay their eggs. Drawn by the serenity and safety of its pristine shores, mother turtles entrust this environment with their next generation. However, the journey from egg to ocean is fraught with challenges, from natural predators to environmental threats. That’s where the incubation center plays a vital role, protecting the eggs from disturbances and ensuring optimal conditions for their development.

By naturally regulating nest temperatures, it helps balance the ratio of male and female hatchlings, ensuring genetic diversity and strengthening future populations.
In December 2024, an Olive Ridley mother turtle—classified as threatened on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List—chose Six Senses Con Dao as her nesting site, marking a significant milestone. The sight of this rare turtle coming ashore to lay eggs at Dat Doc Beach is a promising sign, offering hope for the species’ return and its contribution to the recovery of Vietnam’s rare sea turtle population.
